Which model(s)/size of Taylor bowls  do you enjoy playing with and why?

Indoors I like playing with Taylor Blaze (size 4) as I feel confident on all carpets with these in any position. Outdoors I use Taylor Ace (size 4), I feel they are handy on the slower greens and are a versatile bowl.

 What country/region/club/team do you play for?

I play for England in International bowls. At county level, I used to play in Devon, however I moved to Kent in 2021 and now play at Swale Indoor Bowls Club and Appleyard Bowls Club outdoors.

 As you are going to Australia can you tell us about your plans?

Australia is going to be a new challenge which I am really looking forward to. I am going with the aim to experience other surfaces around the world to enhance my knowledge.

When and why did you start playing bowls?

I started bowling when I was 6 years old. I went down to my local bowls green, Totnes Bowls Club, with my grandad, Reg. He was the one who brought me into the game and has always been the one who I look up to most. I loved the challenge of trying to get better and improve; if I had shots to practice, I’d really want to achieve those successfully before I was happy to finish.

 Are there any particular stories/incidents you would like to tell us about that relate to your bowling?

A couple days before travelling to Leamington for the National U25 Pairs, my pairs partner messaged me to say his bowls were out of date, and asked if I had a set of Aces he could borrow. Fortunately, I had a set which were in date and we went on to win the whole thing!

 In the bowling world who do you most admire and why?

I admire Sam Tolchard the most! His drive to win and consistency is something I thrive to achieve as well. He also supported me a lot in the early stages of my bowls career.

 Do you have a favourite – film, book, song, football team, actor, etc? It can be more than one if you like.

I enjoy watching a lot of sports, particularly golf, rugby, basketball and football. I support Plymouth Argyle Football Team and Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA.
